-MEASUREMENTS-
How to take them and our Top Tips.
Thinking of ordering a Pre-Made or custom harness or collar here is a guide to taking measurements. There is some written information on how to take measurements. We also have an easy-to-follow short video bellow.
You can also contact us via instagram if you are having difficulties.
Measuring for a collar
neck width
Measure using a flexible tape-measure around the base of your dogs neck, the whole way round. This is nasally the widest part of the dogs neck.
Alternatively you can measure the inside edge of your dogs buckled up collar.
Measuring For A Harness
Girth
Measurement
Measure using a flexible tape measure around the widest part of your dogs rib cage (this is the girth and should be just behind the shoulder blades).
Measure the whole way round.
Shoulder
measurement
Measure using a flexible tape measure. measure from shoulder blades the point that sits on girth to the very centre of their chest.
Sternum
Measurement
measure using a flexible tape measure from the centre of chest, in-between the dogs legs to the girth (widest part of ribs).
ground and lead handles
Measure using any tape measure.
For our ground handle have your dog move into the position you will most likely use the handle in (sit or stand or on your lap) and measure from their back to where your hand stretches down to, add an inch so you can hold the grounding handle comfortably. We take the measurement for how far you would like the handle to sit off your dogs back, not the whole handle length
For our lead handles have your dog stood one step in front of you and measure from the dogs girth to where your hand is stretched comfortably in the lead position.
